Managing Identity

Managing Identity – A Guide for OmniSocial Users Create your Web3 identity using wallets, PersonaNFTs, and your unique .omni alias.

🪪 What Is Your OmniSocial Identity?

Your identity on OmniSocial is decentralized and portable. Instead of a username and password, you use a crypto wallet to log in, and your public persona is represented by a PersonaNFT — a customizable on-chain identity token. Every account also gets a unique .omni alias, like alex.omni, to make identity and discovery easier.

🔐 Step 1: Connect a Wallet

You can use any Polygon-compatible wallet, such as:

To connect:

  1. Click "Connect Wallet"

  2. Approve the connection in your wallet

If you don’t have a wallet yet, we recommend setting up MetaMask first.

🎭 Step 2: Create a Persona

After connecting your wallet, you’ll be prompted to create your PersonaNFT — this is your public profile and identity on the platform.

Each Persona includes:

  • Display name (e.g., “AlexBuilder”)

  • Profile image (stored on IPFS)

  • Short bio or description

  • Unique .omni domain (auto-assigned)

How to create:

  1. Click "Create Persona"

  2. Fill in your name, upload an image, and write a short bio

  3. Confirm the transaction in your wallet

✅ You now own your first on-chain identity, stored forever as a non-transferable PersonaNFT.

🔄 Step 3: Switch Between Personas

You can have multiple personas tied to a single wallet — perfect for creators, DAO contributors, or pseudonymous users.

To switch:

  1. Go to your profile settings

  2. Select “Switch Persona”

  3. Choose your desired persona from the list

Only one persona is active at a time, and all actions (posting, tipping, voting) will be linked to that active identity.

🌐 Your .omni Alias

When you create your first Persona, you’ll automatically receive a gasless .omni domain, like:

alex.omni

You can:

  • Share this name for people to find you

  • Use it instead of your wallet address in supported dApps

  • Create subdomains under it (e.g., dao.alex.omni)

Your .omni name is:

  • Unique (one per wallet account)

  • Free (gasless)

  • Decentralized (tied to your PersonaNFT & DID)

🛡️ Privacy & Realness Options

When creating or managing a Persona, you can choose:

  • Pseudonymous mode (default)

  • Zero-Knowledge mode (hides all metadata)

  • Verified mode (optional Proof of Humanity or credential linking)

You’re always in control of what you reveal — OmniSocial supports both full anonymity and real-world verifiability.

🔑 Recovering Access

If you lose access to your wallet:

  • OmniSocial will offer SBT-based recovery mechanisms in future updates

  • For now, make sure to back up your wallet and seed phrase securely
